November's Bike of the Month:
Mark's 2005 Triumph Thruxton

“Elizabeth”, named after the Her Majesty the Queen, is the third bike I’ve ever owned. I started on a Triumph that I bought in Hawaii in 2002. That bike led me to buying a ’78 Bonneville in 2003 when I moved to the mainland. The ’78 led me to the BIR and buying the Thruxton in 2005.

The secondary air injection was the first thing to go the day I brought it home. Next I removed the headers and sent them to Performance Coatings in Auburn, WA to have them ceramic-coated black.

I built an airbox removal system and fender removal system while the headers were away. The front fender was painted black as well.

Later, bar-end mirrors and a Monza gas cap were added. The bike stayed that way until the two-year warranty ran out in Feb of 2007 and I painted the engine black.

“Elizabeth” feeds my very soul. In the twisties, she feels like an extension of my mind and body. She always brings a smile to my face.

She’s not always clean like this. She does get dirty. She is ridden year-round and only given a reprieve when there’s ice or snow on the ground.

Her 64K miles have taken her to WA, OR, CA, NV, AZ, ID, and MT. Future trips will include BC and Alberta Canada, UT, WY and CO.
